Construction season has arrived.

In High River, Mayor Craig Snodgrass says council's given its approval to a project that'll see the paving of Centre Street between the flood gate and 2 Avenue completed.

"Because the final top lift is going on Centre Street, the rebuild we did a couple of years ago, with that top lift going on we want to make sure that we tied everything in so it's all fresh and new and of course between the flood gate and second avenue needs to be redone anyway, that's why we've added this piece to that project so it's all going to be redone and everything's going to be seamless all the way through on Centre street," the mayor explains.

The top lift, or the final layer of pavement has to be done all the way to 7 Avenue.

He says the work will be done this summer and disruptions will be kept to a minimum since there's no roads being torn up.
