For the last time this year chuckwagon drivers will make their way on-stage and be auctioned off.

The Ponoka Stampede tarp auction is all set for Friday, May 4, and High River's Jordie Fike says he's hoping with the season less than a month away now, that excitement may mean a few extra dollars jumping out of the pockets of sponsors.

"For sure, I mean they're starting to think about it now and everybody's getting the itch, just like we are. And you know, it's not far off. Less than 100 days and we'll be in Ponoka. So, that'll come fast. 20 days until we hit the road, so it's coming faster than you'd think."

The drivers head to Grande Prairie to kick off the season Wednesday, May 30 at the Stompede.
