Farm Credit Canada is holding its Ag Outlook 2016 event in Strathmore Tuesday Jan., 19.

The event is a free, half-day learning session that brings leading industry experts together to provide information about the economy, weather, technology and commodity markets.

Participants will also hear how changing weather patterns could affect producers, commodity markets and operations this year as well as learn some practical ways to use farm management planning to take their operation to the next level.

It goes from 1:15 - 4:30 p.m.at the Centennial Civic Centre in Strathmore

Mike Jubinville

Mike is lead analyst and president of Pro Farmer Canada, an independent market analysis and advisory service he started in 1997. Mike's experience includes work as a cash merchant with United Grain Growers, senior market analyst with Growers Marketing Services of UGG and an analyst with Manitoba Pool Elevators. Mike was also employed as market reporter with Resource News International and Dow Jones Newswires out of Winnipeg and Chicago. Andy Nadler

Andy is a consulting agricultural meteorologist and owner of Peak HydroMet Solutions, undertaking weather, climate and agriculture-related projects across western Canada. Prior to becoming independent, he worked for Weather INnovations Consulting (WIN), where he continues with project work developing weather-based monitoring and modelling solutions. Andy was the agricultural meteorologist with Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives before joining WIN, and developed the Manitoba Ag-Weather Program. He holds a master’s in soil science (Agrometeorology) from the University of Manitoba and a geography degree from the University of Winnipeg. Andy lives and works in Campbell River, B.C.
      
Peter Gredig

Peter Gredig is a corn, soybean and wheat producer based near London, Ont., who has a background in agricultural media and communications. He’s a partner in AgNition Inc., a mobile development company that builds apps and mobile resources for Canadian farmers, agribusiness and organizations.
      
J.P. Gervais

J.P. Gervais is Chief Agricultural Economist at FCC. He has 20 years of experience in domestic and international analysis of agricultural policies and markets, and is a featured speaker at conferences across the country where he addresses the linkages between the economy and agriculture as well as the determinants of competitiveness in agri-food markets. Prior to joining FCC, J.P. was a professor of agricultural economics at Laval, where he held the Canada Research Chair in Agri-industries and International Trade, and at North Carolina State University. J.P. has a PhD in economics from Iowa State and is the past President of the Canadian Agricultural Economics Society.
