The Okotoks Conservation Educators rounded out Environment Week with two events yesterday.

They made an appearance at the Operations Centre offering document shredding, as well as a clothing exchange.

Conservation Educator Toni Matthews says there are several benefits to the clothing exchange.

"The clothing exchange is awesome; everyone could bring in clothes that they weren't wearing anymore or didn't fit, and then people could pick up a new-to-you wardrobe. It's awesome because instead of the clothing just going to a landfill, it's actually being used by people."

The document shredding was largely successful, with residents lining up to get rid of old paperwork.

Conservation Educator Cassidy Stillie says the document shredding event was a handy and environmentally conscious way of getting rid of old documents.

"A lot of people have confidential and private documents that they aren't able to just go and recycle, so they tend to either burn them or store them away, so it's good for them to have a place where it will go to recycling."

Though Environment Week has come to an end, the Conservation Educators have several more events planned for the summer.
