The Okotoks Elks are hosting a fundraiser for a local family tomorrow (Oct. 28).

Dinner and music are on the docket at the Elks Hall, all as a fundraiser for a the Brown family, who are hoping to get a specially trained service dog for their four-year-old son Colin.

All of the food is being donated by members, with the dessert being donated by 94 Take the Cake.

Krystof Lindenback with the Okotoks Elks Club says the scope of the event started small, but it quickly ballooned out.

"We were happy with 40 people coming to this. We'd have been able to give Colin $800 and some additional money for a draw, whatever that may be... We ended up capping it at 100 people. The response has been unbelievable."

While the dinner portion of the evening is sold out, Lindenback says they're pretty keen to fill all 100 seats, so those interested are welcome to check in to see if there are any available seats due to cancellation.

They're opening things up for the musical portion of the night, which will feature local artists including Brettyn Rose and Chase Morgan.

"We'd love to see 250 people in the hall for the music. We have a capacity of 272. Obviuously, 100 people for dinner, I expect most of them will stay for the entertainment, but we have plenty of room for that," says Lindenback.

The cocktail hour starts at 5 p.m., followed by the dinner, with the music to start at 7 p.m.

Dinner tickets are $20, while entry to the music portion are $10. They'll also be offering $5 drinks.

Those wishing to just donate can e-stranfer donations to okotokselks-31@shaw.ca, mentioning "Colin" in the email.
