The Dragons lit up the scoreboard five times last night in Drumheller.

They beat the Okotoks Oilers 5-3, sweeping them in the home-and-home finale series of the regular AJHL season.

The Oilers had a lot of shots on net and were applying pressure early, but the Dragons were able to capitalize on a too-many-men penalty and scored on their first shot of the game.  By the end of the second period, it was 3-1 in favour of the hometown team.

In the third period the Oilers held a 25-12 shot advantage but were down 4-1. Then the momentum shifted with two quick goals. One from Dean Spak and the other from rookie Jackson Rowland.  The Dragons sealed the deal with an empty netter.

Both teams battled it out this weekend as third place in the AJHL south division was on the line with the Oilers entering the contest with 71 points with the Dragons 70 points.

So, the Oilers finish in fourth place with the Dragons leaping into third.

The Oilers still have home ice advantage in the first round so they'll host the Camrose Kodiaks starting next Friday night in the best-of-seven series.
