Dr. Hinshaw provided some details on the ongoing monitoring of food processing plants, with Cargill having reopened this week.

Numerous safety controls and procedures must be met as these facilities continue to operate, including temperature checks for staff entering the facility, the use of face masks and other protective equipment at all times, extra cleaning and sanitization, and increased distance between employees as well as the use of screening between them.

According to a release from the provincial government, three inspections have been carried out at the Cargill plant, with four at JBS in Brooks, and two at Harmony beef.

Occupational Health and Safety and Alberta Health Services were on site for the reopening of the Cargill plant, and remained on site on May 6th.

An investigation is also underway by Occupational Health and Safety as to the circumstances surrounding worker's exposure at both Cargill and JBS.
