After 10 innings Monday night, the Okotoks Dawgs held strong and defeated the Medicine Hat Mavericks in game two of their playoff series.

The Dawgs beat the Mavs 5-4 with Brendan Hendriks going 3 for 4 and scoring twice. Adam Touhey went 2 for 4 and recorded an RBI, which brought Hendriks home for the Dawgs first run of the game.

Matt Morrow and Logan Trowbridge had home runs to power the Dawgs to the win as they had to come back from a 4-1 deficit.

Dawgs Manager Brett Thomas says it's great to see players step up on the field.

"Two guys have just really bought into an approach and they're really sticking to it," Thomas says. "It was just one of those things that you kind of get a feel and when you get to playoff time it's always a different guy and it's nice to see that already and just seeing guys stick to an approach. We tell the guys 'play our game for nine innings' and we did it for 10 [on Monday] and fortunately came out on top."

Thomas says the team is ready for game three.

"They're not going to quit. We're definitely just focused on coming out and trying to win that first winning and we'll go from there."

The Dawgs will try to wrap up the playoff series in game three or four Tuesday and Wednesday night in Medicine Hat and, if needed, the deciding game will be played at Seaman Stadium on Thu. Aug. 6.
