A good start for the Okotoks Dawgs in game 1 of the WCBL finals.

They had home-field advantage in the first of their best-of-three against the Moose Jaw Miller Express, and it looks like it paid off.

With a comfy 12-3 win, the Dawgs are likely feeling pretty good heading into game two.

They were on the offensive from the get-go, with Micah McDowell hitting a home run in the first inning, scoring two runs. He went 3-5 by the end of the game, with 3 RBI's.

McCoy Pearce also had 3 RBI's, going 3-5, with Alejandro Cazorla, Brendan Luther, and Ricky Sanchez contributing 1 RBI apiece.

Ryan McFarland triumphed, surrendering no runs in 7 innings with five strikeouts.

With the win, the Dawgs are 5 for 5 in playoff play.

Game 2 will be hosted in Moose Jaw today (August 17) at 7:05 p.m.
