The Okotoks Dawgs will have to wait another day to try and move up the Alberta Division after falling 7-5 to the Melville Millionaires Friday Night.

Dawgs Infielder Kellen Marruffo went 1-3 with a two run home-run in the 4th in the loss.

He says despite his individual efforts, this was stinging defeat for the team.

"I've been struggling, so I just want to thank Brett for giving me the chance again," he says. "I see a lot of guys working hard, they're just trying to get in there and do something good with it, so yeah it was nice to have that happen, but it would have been nice to come away with a win."

Left Fielder Bruce Yari says it was tough for the Dawgs to give up three runs in the 8th when they had ample opportunities to rally.

"There was a couple times where we had an opportunity to even tie it up late," he says. "Just couldn't get it done, I know I came up there with a runner on first and grounded into a double -play, that's unacceptable.

The Dawgs will now turn their attention to their rivals the Medicine Hat Mavericks on the road who are a half-game back of the Dawgs for third in the division.

Marruffo says they'll be ready.

"We're coming around right now," he says. "We understand what it takes to win, what it is to wear this jersey, always excited to get going about anyone, take on all comers we'll see how it goes."

First pitch in the Hat is 7:05.

The Dawgs return to Seaman Stadium on Tuesday night against the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
