The Dawgs improved to 3-0 on the new WCBL season as they defeated the Bulls 3-1, in the closest game of the season on Sunday.

The Bulls opened the scoring in the second inning only for the Dawgs to tie it in the same inning and eventually take the lead in the fourth.

The Dawgs would put up 7 hits in the victory.

The Dawgs offense rallied after trailing briefly, as efforts from Eric Machej (Dawgs Academy), Nolan King (Okanagan College) and Aidan Rose (UBC) helped earn the Dawgs their third win of the season.

Nolan King scored two of the Dawgs runs which were both driven in courtesy of Eric Machej who finished the game 1-2 with 2 RBI. Aidan Rose added 1 RBI and finished the game 1-3. Elijah Hammill (Utah) improved his hitting streak to three games as he went 2-4 from the plate.

Noah Geekie (Emporia State, KS) made his first appearance on the mound and earned the win after tossing 4.0 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits and finishing with 2 strikeouts. Relief efforts from Ben Soke (Dawgs Academy), Brody Forno (Williston State, ND), Quinn Tocheniuk (Rogers State, KS) and Cade Herrmann (Western Illinois, IL) kept the bulls bats quiet as the game progressed.

Sam Roberts (Chandler-Gilbert CC, AZ) earned his first save of the season after shutting the game down in the ninth, recording 2 strikeouts. The Dawgs will travel to Sylvan Lake for a battle with the Gulls on Tuesday May 30 before returning home to Seaman Stadium on June 1 to face the Fort McMurray Giants.
