With opening day a little over seven weeks away, the Okotoks Dawgs are starting to get the itch to get the baseball season started.

Managing Director John Ircandia says he's excited for the year to start and for fans to see the latest addition to Seaman Stadium.

"We are going crazy! The weather's getting warm. The folks are putting in our new giant video board, which fans are going to love. It's going to be like watching a major league ball game, with the "Kiss Cam" and all the other features you can do in a high definition, interactive video board."

Ircandia says they've also just launched a promotion called "5K for Opening Day."

"We want to have five thousand fans out there, cheering the Dawgs on, on opening day. Get your tickets for opening day because it's going to be an absolute barn burner at Seaman Stadium."

Ircandia says the team finally managed to do something this year, they've been wanting to do for a while.

Offer fans an easier way to buy tickets.

Online!

"One of the frustrations has been that you never know if you're going to get a seat. A lot of people don't like to sit on the berm and play catch. Now, they can find out whether they're actually going to get a seat by way of online ticketing. That's going to be unleashed over the next week and that'll enable people to be actually certain of where they're going to sit."

The Dawgs kick off the season May 28 and 29 in Edmonton.
