Over 6300 COVID-19 tests were completed in the 24 hours preceding Thursday's update, with 24 cases reported.

The number of active cases in Alberta dropped to 506, 26 less than on Tuesday.

Recoveries have risen to 7191.

One additional death was reported, and was related to the outbreak in a unit at the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton where six patients and five staff members have tested positive.

38 Albertans are currently being treated in hospital, with eight in ICU.

Health Minister Tyler Shandro also appeared during the conference, announcing that testing for asymptomatic individuals with no known exposure to COVID-19 will soon be made available at local pharmacies.

In the next few days, swab testing will be made available at 20 pharmacies, mainly in Edmonton and Calgary, though additional pharmacies will offer testing in coming weeks.
