The Thanksgiving long weekend is here, and it looks like we're in for a few cool, sunny days ahead.

Foothills residents, especially those hitting the road over the weekend, may be apprehensive after the heavy snowfall we've seen in the last few weeks.

Meteorologist with Environment Canada Dan Kulak says it'll definitely be colder than average.

"We can expect a long weekend here that's generally sunny with temperatures a little bit below the long term averages. Our day time highs are going to be in the single digits. This time of the year on avergae we're more more like about 10 or 11 soa little bit cooler than average but sunny for a great part of the weekend here."

We've seen some heavy snowfall in the last few weeks. Though we're expected to see some precipitation, Kulak says we aren't likely to see another large snowfall again in the next few days.

"There's been some winter-like conditions across Southern Alberta, certainly in the last little while here. It does look like Monday could be that day where we might get some showers or flurries in the area, but certainly we're not seing any 15 centimetre snowfall dumps for the wekend."

Beyonf the long weekend, he says we're likely to see an increase in temperature, cooling down once again by the end of the week.
