The return of warm weather also means the return of the Conservation Educators.

The group of four summer students, Emma Mackintosh, Simon Stenseth, Cassidy Stillie, and Toni Matthews, will spend the next few months educating Okotoks residents on green and sustainable initiatives offered by the Town.

Cassidy Stillie, Conservation Educator, says the Town is offering a new free program this year.

"Starting June 1st, energy assessments will be available to residents of Okotoks. They'll learn how to save energy in their home and set energy saving goals. Through the assessment we'll walk them through the process to ensure their fridge and freezer temperatures, appliances, look for possible heating or cooling leaks, and look at their overall electricity use, just to name a few."

Stillie says home owners can also ask them about A new solar PV energy system.

"PV stands for photo voltaic, and it's just converting the sun's energy into direct usable electricity by using the solar cells, and any home owner can install them."

The Conservation Educators can be spotted at all Town of Okotoks events this summer.
