The Town of Okotoks' Conservation Educators held Environmental Exploration Day yesterday.

The family friendly event served to educate residents about various aspects of our natural environment here in Okotoks.

Environmental Educator Simon Stenseth says the EPCOR Environmental Education Centre is usually only open on weekdays, so they wanted to provide a time for residents to explore it on a weekend.

"Environmental Exploration Day is a way for us to provide residents with a way to access the centre on a weekend, when they might not normally have had access to it. It's a way for residents to explore the space and get a sense of some of the interesting facts about our water shed and our environment at a time that they're not normally able to."

"It's largely a family event but the centre has a lot for adults to learn as well. Facts about our trees, about where our water goes, how much is a cubic meter of water, all of those questions can be answered here."

Another Environmental Exploration Day is scheduled for August 17th, with a free clothing exchange also available at the centre that day.
