On Saturday, the "Fill Kolton's Bucket Fundraiser Gig" was held at the Okotoks Elks Hall.

It was a fundraiser for the Byerley family, whose teen son Kolton's cancer diagnosis was confirmed to be terminal in August.

Okotokian Sandy Grunleitner organized the event to give the family room to spend time with Kolton without having to worry about their business (Yooneek Books).

The event featured a silent auction, drinks, and live music from Michela Sheedy, Gratuitous, and Vicarious Vandalism.

"We had quite a few people show up, people enjoyed the music, they bought lots of treats from local home businesses that were available, people were hanging out in the lounge, everybody loved the silent auction items, and Kolton was there for most of the night and had a good time with his friends, so that was awesome."

While some donations are still trickling in, the unofficial fundraising total is over $3,800.

The Okotoks Elks donated $1000 and provided the Elks Hall free of charge.

"A lot of individuals and businesses pulled together to make this happen, which is great. Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way, shape, or form to this, and everyone who showed up, placed bids on auction items, and all the businesses."
