Residents of Okotoks will see some much needed upgrades to a couple of playgrounds in the community this fall.

Parks Manager, Christa Michailuck, says the town will be working on giving two parks a face lift with the goal of inclusive play.

"We're excited to say that we are moving ahead with the playground upgrades at both Cedar Grove Park, and Riverside Park this September," she said.

Michailuck says the Cedar Grove and Riverside parks were chosen for very specific reasons.

"Both of these sites are older sites that were warranting upgrades soon. The town was looking for sites to install its first inclusive playgrounds for children of all ages and abilities to use," she said.

The parks are set to begin upgrades this coming fall, which will involve removing and replacing existing equipment and surfacing, as well as upgrading washroom facilities.

Michailuck also says there was excellent community and stakeholder participation in choosing designs and locations.
