The chuckwagons are coming back to High River in July.

The President of the High River Ag Society Tanya Froh says going from the Calgary Stampede to High River and then to Strathmore works well, so there are no plans to try and go back to the dates in June.

"The way that the schedule works it makes for a nice southern swing for the wagons and with the price of diesel fuel I think you can appreciate that they don't want to be bouncing around the province a whole bunch, that would eat up some sponsorship bucks in a real hurry."

A number of drivers spoke about the great crowds in High River during last year's WPCA season.

"We had such a good time last year and I think think the drivers appreciated it, it was because we did three nights and then a few nights off and then three nights again, it was a very relaxed format. They got to hang out on grass rather than being on concrete like some of the other facilities."

She says they also tend to get better weather in July and are more likely to have that warm, dry track that the wagons need.

The chucks will run from Thursday, July 21 to Saturday, July 23 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 24 at 4:00 p.m.

The Guy Weadick Memorial Rodeo will go Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 in the evening.
