A standup comedian from High River is returning to his hometown as part of an Alberta-wide tour.

Conner Christmas and Scott Belford embarked on the Fear and Loathing in the Prairies tour on Nov. 2, which has taken them across Northern and Southern Alberta.

Their stops have included Grande Prairie, Bonnyville, Brooks, and soon, High River.

Christmas grew up in High River, which is where he performed standup comedy for the first time.

He recalls it was toward the tail-end of an open mic night in 2012.

"It did my first set ever in High River at Gitters Pub downtown. More of a whim than anything, it was winter break around this time of year after my first year of university and I was like 'you know what? I'm gonna try this.' Now I feel like I've practised enough, I've gotten good enough to come back and give my hometown some laughs so I'm excited for the show."

He's been back since, about five years ago, but he's pretty confident he's improved by a significant margin since then.

Just over a month ago, Christmas was featured in the Just for Laughs New Faces of Comedy: Canada showcase.

Belford has his share of accolades too, having performed in every Canadian territory and province, as well as the Seattle International Comedy Competition.

They're performing at the High River Brewing on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m.
