Adam Redmond is going to have some big shoes to fill this coming Alberta Midget Hockey League season.

After veteran Coach Dan McDonald announced his retirement following the CFR Chemical Bisons Telus Cup run, the team acted quickly on finding a veteran coach of the league and the coach they faced in the AMHL South Final last year.

Redmond was the coach of the Triple 'A' Buffaloes for the past five seasons after taking over for now Okotoks Oilers Head Coach James Poole. Where he He had a record of 96-34-27 and had made the playoffs all 5 years at the helm.

Bisons General Manager Wayne Hansen says Redmond will be a nice fit in Strathmore.

"I've known Adam for quite a while," he says. "The talent and his coaching philosophies align very well with what our association is."

He says Redmond's past experience is crucial for the Bison's future success.

"He's certainly going to bring new ideas, new ideas are fantastic but know the league is huge thing."

He hopes Redmond will pick up where his successor left off.

"Winning league championships and a having a chance to go to Telus Cup was going to be more of the norm more than the exception," he says. "We expect Adam to carry on what Dan McDonald started."

The Bisons are coming off a year of firsts the AMHL with a league title, pacific regional championship and a fourth place finish at the Telus Cup in Quebec.
