Today is the first day of Fire Prevention Week here in Okotoks and this year it's all about learning the sounds of fire safety!

All week long you and the family can follow along and learn through videos and virtual activities as well as enter contests and win some prizes from the Okotoks fire department and our favorite dog, Sparky!

We caught up with Trevor Brice, fire chief and director of emergency management for the town, and he shared some knowledge about Fire Prevention Week (Oct 3-9).

Why is it in October?

The theme is "learning the sounds of fire safety" how can you do that?

Now we HEAR (get it? Because it's all about the sounds of fire safety...) that you also have some really cool prizes, not only for kids but for adults too!

And you're asking people to send in their "burning questions" about fire safety so you can answer them...people shouldn't be embarrassed about their questions right?

Awesome! Thanks Trevor! He will be joining me on the Okotoks Ford Morning Show on Friday morning, (Oct.9), answering all of YOUR burning questions...so make sure you send them in!

You can either comment on this post or send them in via text to our High River Toyota text line (403)-938-0652.

Follow along with fire prevention week and get in on ALL the prizes HERE.

Have fun and stay safe!
