The enhanced BSE feed ban is welcome news for Canada's beef industry.

Brad Wildeman of the Canadian Cattleman's Association says the strengthened ban was the last recommendation made by an international panel looking at this country's BSE recovery plan.

"It's taken us a long time to get there", he says, "I think that we had hope we would have the same SRM and feed policy that they have in the United States".

Wildeman says Canada has since moved ahead of the U-S in dealing with SRM's and it's now a wait to see what regulations will be brought in there.
