Import restrictions for Blue Tongue may be changing.

Dr. Samira Belaissoui says recent scientific developments prompted a review of the rules.

A consultation paper outlining the agency's proposed changes has been released.

Belaissoui says the main points include lifting restrictions for all classes of ruminants imported year round into western Canada from any U-S state.

It's also proposed blue tongue be changed from being a reportable disease to immediately notifiable.

Belaissoui says the agency is also reviewing its import conditions for Anaplasmosis.
