2020 may have been tough but it wasn't a failure for the Town of Black Diamond.

Mayor of Black Diamond Ruth Goodwin says the year was certainly a test for her and the staff for the town, a test that Goodwin says the staff was up to.

"I am so grateful for our staff, what they have been able to accomplish, there is a lot of people within communities that just expect things to get done and don't realize the personal sacrifice that our employees make."

Goodwin says they are continuing some programs from this year including the Okotoks, Black Diamond and Turner Valley trash collection program which has Okotoks collecting garbage for Turner Valley and Black Diamond.

Another program that will begin in 2021 is the town's transit services.

Goodwin says one of her highlights for the year is the towns work with Turner Valley regarding the amalgamation

"The one highlight for my year is the decision to move forward with the amalgamation discussion and negotiations, I would say that is something I am looking forward to continuing into 2021, I'm very pleased with both our councils and our collection of staff and administration who are working with us."
