The Heritage Jr. B league (HJHL) kicked off the regular season over the weekend.

The Okotoks Bisons once again started the season off with a pair of wins.

They doubled up on Airdrie with an 8-4 win on Friday and then squeaked by Strathmore 2-1 on Saturday.

Jacob Semeniuk scored a hat trick for the Herd and added a helper in the win with Adam Kirkpatrick also picking up four points with two goals and two assists in Friday's win.

In Saturday's matchup, Easton Dean scored his second goal of the season with Scott Brown also scoring with Grady Nicholas backstopping the team for both wins.

And talk about a blowout, the High River Flyers hammered the Ponoka Stampeders 17-1 on Friday night.

Three players netted hat tricks: Connor Smith, Alex McIsaac and Jager Marshall with Kashton Payne getting the win in net.

However, the Flyers lost a close one to the Coaldale Copperheads 6-5 on Saturday.

Easton Weasel Head picked up a pair of goals and an assist in the loss. Flyers goalie Parker Forrest played between the pipes and 21 saves in the game.
