Recall legislation introduced by the provincial government earlier this week is misplaced according to High River's mayor.

Craig Snodgrass says voters need to be better informed before they cast a ballot.

"What people need to do is pay more attention to who they're electing in the first place, because what we've seen in the last number of years is is, who's the louder, angrier guy," he says. "These guys are very good at selling you snake oil and telling you they're going to do all this stuff, you know the wannabe tough guy of doing things, but governance wise they know full well they cannot do that, but they will tell you they will to get elected."

Snodgrass says it's not a political problem but a people problem.

He says the Kenney government likes to say this is similar to what's available to voters next door in British Columbia.

"What does happen in B.C., I don't know if they've recalled anybody yet because trying to get all those signatures, petitions are not easy, they're quite difficult," Snodgrass says.

He says the government is fulfilling its "optical objective".
