Banff National Park is once again opening up 17 km of Bow Valley Parkway for cyclists and pedestrians.

Starting this weekend on May 1 vehicles will be restricted along an eastern stretch to allow cyclists to enjoy.

It's still in it's three-year pilot program and runs from May 1 to June 25 and then again from September 1 to September 30.

If you'd like to dust of your bike you are encouraged to park your vehicle at the Banff Train Station parking lot.

The parking lot is accessible via the Mount Norquay Road entrance to the townsite.

Now, if you're planning on just going for a drive and are looking to access the Johnston Canyon day-use area you can still access it by vehicle via Castle Junction and the Trans-Canada highway.

The Bow Valley Parkway is a 48 km scenic road that connects Banff to Lake Louise within Banff National Park and is a favourite scenic route for many cyclists.
