The 21-year-old victim of an avalanche at the Lake Louise ski resort has been identified as Cale Stecyk.

Stecyk, #19 and an alternate captain, played for the Rocky Rams in the Heritage B junior hockey league.

It's the same league the Okotoks Bisons and High River Flyers play in.

The Rocky Rams shared their condolences in an Instagram post:

The Rocky Rams are saddened by the tragic passing of #19 Cale Stecyk in a skiing accident this weekend.

Stecyk played the last 3 seasons for the Rams and was a great leader both on and off the ice and possessed a wicked shot!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to this family Alan, Shari and Teagan as well as his girlfriend McKenna at this time. As well as numerous friends, colleagues and teammates.

Cale was someone that everyone wanted to be around and play with, his infectious smile and presence will be missed by many.

The Rams have setup counselling for all members of the organization affected by this tragedy, should they like to utilize it.

Rest in Peace #19

Stecyk was with two others when they skied into an out of bounds area which triggered an avalanche causing his death.
