Alberta's provincial government is reporting a significant uptick in vaccinations the day after their big announcement.

On Sept. 16, the day following the announcement of their Restrictions Exemption Program, 28,158 first and second doses were administered.

It's quite an increase compared to the 9,750 doses from the day prior.

With that uptick, the province has surpassed the milestone of 80 per cent of Albertans over the age of 12 who have received at least one dose.

Just under 72 per cent of Albertans over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated.

Of Alberta's total population, 68.1 per cent have received at least one dose, with 61 per cent being fully vaccinated.

While it's still early, this new uptake is in line with similar figures from provinces like B.C., Ontario, and Quebec, who also saw an increase in vaccination after introducing proof of vaccination programs.
