Alberta RCMP are reminding residents to be extra cautious on the roads this Labour Day long weekend.

According to a media release, Alberta RCMP responded to 354 motor vehicle collisions during last year's Labour Day long weekend.

44 injuries and 4 casualties occurred as a result of those collisions.

Road users are asked to stay aware of surroundings, watching for signage and wildlife, as well as obeying speed limits at all times.

We're likely in for some rain in the next few days, so drivers should be wary of hydroplaning.

Of course, drivers should not operate a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or even when heavily fatigued.

They encourage Albertans to Facebook and Twitter pages for safety tips posted regularly.
