The Alberta Federation of Agriculture's Annual General Meeting last week highlighted changes in agriculture and key issues farmers and ranchers will face in the future.

Federation president Lynn Jacobson says the meeting gave its members a chance to see what's on the horizon and offered innovative ways to to meet the challenges.

Provincial agriculture minister Oneil Carlier spoke about the new farm worker safety legislation telling delegates the government is going to take the time to get it right.

That includes efforts to get input from various farm groups over the next while.

Other issues discussed included developments in farm technology, including the use of drones, research on water risk plus a look at surface rental issues around wells that have been abandoned during the economic downturn.

Federation delegates also reconfirmed the executive for another year, including Lynn Jacobson as president.
