Farmers have been slow returning this year's census forms.

Allan Wiebe with Statistics Canada says about three quarters have been returned across the west with about 20 per cent outstanding in Southern Alberta.

"I can certainly understand why some people wouldn't have done that yet but is important to get the census completed fairly soon and get that form in", he says, "It's critical information not just for government departments but for provincial governments and businesses".

Wiebe says farmers that have not submitted a form just need to fill one out as soon as possible and mail it in or do it online.
