Looks like curling season is going to be getting underway soon at the Highwood Curling Club.

Mike Libbus has been hired to install the ice this year and says they're getting going now.

"We just started doing the install in High River just the other day. So we're expecting hopefully in the next couple of weeks the ice to be in and hopefully we can get some of the members out to practice and throwing some rocks."

He says the issues with the building's floor are making it a challenge.

"They've had a little bit of a struggle over the last few years with the ice and maintaining there because they have some issues with the floor. We're going to go in and do what we can and try to provide the best possible ice for the members to play on. I know the Town is working hard to try and come up with some grant money to figure out a way to make that project happen."

Libbus, who runs the Okotoks Curling Club and does the ice both there and in Black Diamond won't be running the club here.

He says that will be left to the club's board of directors.
