Christmas trees of all shapes, sizes, and colours adorn the halls of the Okotoks Recreation Centre for the eighth annual Avenue of Trees.

Thirty one trees decorated by local businesses, clubs, and other organizations line the can be seen, and will be up for auction in benefit of the Sheep River Health Trust.

Andrea Mitchell, Executive Director of the Sheep River Health Trust, says the tree auction isn't the only way to give back this Christmas season.

"We also have a wonderful program with a Pay it Forward. We identify families in our communities that need a little Christmas cheer. We're not financial need, we're talking divorced parents, lost their Christmas decorations through a fire or flood, new Canadians, there's all sorts of reasons that people need some Christmas cheer during the year."

She says fourteen trees to delivered to local families though the program last year.

"It's a magical time for us. Not only are we creating some Christmas cheer, but we're really giving back to the community as well.

The auction will take place at the Mistletoe Market on December 14th.
