The 40th Annual Sheep River Road Race is set to get underway this coming Saturday in Okotoks.

Chuck Holmstrom, who tracks race times at the event, says the race is an event that the whole family can enjoy and participate in.

"It's a very inexpensive, fun family event that people can come out as a family and take part in. We'd like to see as many people as possible register and take part in the event," he said.

Holmstrom says 40 years is a reason to celebrate, and they hope to help Dave Proctor's cause for the Outrun Rare campaign.

"We are recognizing Dave Proctor for his Outrun Rare fundraiser that he's been working on, and encouraging anybody that's at the race to make a donation to the Outrun Rare Foundation," he said.

The event starts Saturday morning at 8:30 am at St. John Paul II Collegiate. Pre-registration is open until midnight this Wednesday, and is preferred to keep the event running smoothly.

To register for the event, head to www.zone4.ca, type in Sheep River Road Race, and a registration form will come up.
