The 25th annual Knights Classic is set to take place this weekend at Holy Trinity Academy.

The basketball tournament has had a rough go for the past few weeks.

There were worries in December when the Alberta government announced that the return to school for K-12 students would be delayed a week, which sliced right through the tournaments run dates.

Luckily for them, diploma exams were cancelled, so it gave them some time to work with.

Then this Wednesday, the Rocky View School Division announced that they wouldn't take part in any tournament play effective immediately.

With two schools out of the fray, the event had to be adjusted for six teams to take part instead of the original eight.

The teams slated to take the court are:

  • Holy Trinity
  • Western Canada
  • All Saints
  • Foothills Comp25th
  • St. Francis
  • JCS

The tournament starts with the homecourt Knights taking on Western Canada at 2:00 p.m. today.

The tournament wraps up Saturday, with the championship game at 5:15 p.m.
