The Provincial government has increased capital funding for school divisions by $250 million to help boost the economy, while also speeding up maintenance to existing schools.

School divisions will be asked for input in how to invest the money in the most efficient and effective ways possible.

Specific projects will be confirmed by the start of June.

The majority of projects are anticipated to be completed by October.

Two local capital projects were announced March 1, but they are on a different track..

They include the Foothills School Division's Blackie school modernization and in Okotoks, the Good Shepherd school gym replacement in the Christ the Redeemer School Division.

The work is expected to create about 3,750 jobs.
