The Alberta Wheat Commission and Alberta Barley are getting together on a new mentoring initiative.

The AdvancingAg Future Leaders Program pairs selected participants with an agricultural industry leader who will share their knowledge and expertise based on similar interests and career goals over a 12-month period.

Alberta wheat commission Vice-Chair. Kevin Bender says their elated to host an event this Thursday June 8 in Red Deer to help facilitate these relationships and get this pilot year off to a productive start.

This event is a meet-and-greet and is the first opportunity to build a professional relationship and mentoring plan for the year.

Independent agronomist and Nuffield Scholar, Kristina Polziehn, will talk about challenging the status quo.

For this pilot year, AdvancingAg has selected eight participants, with the goal of increasing to 15 in the following years.
