Grain farmers aren't the only ones worried about the dry conditions. Cattle producers also have concerns about the health of their pastures and water quality.

Environmental and Communications Coordinator for the Foothills Forage and Grazing Association, Rachel McLean, says cattle producers should be checking their water on a regular basis.

"You should be checking your water everyday in these dry conditions, making sure your cattle have access to clean drinking water, and also making sure you're getting the water tested. With the dry conditions you can get a lot of evaporation, and in some areas you can get salt problems."

Pasture management becomes very important when grazing with little moisture.

McLean recommends rotating cattle regularly, and leaving extra plant litter in the pasture to retain the soil's moisture and reflect sunlight.
