Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay is celebrating 30 years as a Member of Parliament.

He's served in the PEI riding of Cardigan since November 21, 1988.

"Looking back, it's been a flash...of course, a lot of things happened over the 30 years and being a farmer myself, I've seen a lot of changes in the agricultural sector. Being the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, and seeing the initiatives that our government has put in place, I have to admit it's certainly a great pleasure to be the minister at this time and watch at the growth that's taken place in the agricultural sector, in jobs. We lead the G7 in economic growth."

MacAulay has said he plans to run again in 2019.
