The Foothills Composite Falcons will kick off their fall camp Tuesday with plenty of high expectations once again after winning the Tier II Provincial title last year.

With a target perfectly squared on their back as the team to beat in not only the province but also the Big Rock Football Conference this season will be more of a process than others.

Falcons Head Coach Darren Olson says it's all about winning your last game of the season.

"We're looking for the same thing this year, we've got a lot of bodies to replace obviously," he says. "I think we had nine guys that went on to play CIS or Junior football from last year so definitely some big holes to fill next but I know we have some real talented young kids coming up as well."

With some many departing players from last year's roster in Landon Rose and Trey Kellogg providing plenty of the Falcons offense, Olson will turn to the running game to be successful in moving the chains this year.

"We'll be obviously younger than we were last year, and not as explosive I think on offense, I think we're going to have a little bit more sort of control the tempo of the game with running the ball more than we did last year."

Olson says he expects his team to be in shape come camp and it will just be needing a few reps to get them into form on all sides of the ball.

"You definitely practice them into game shape but I know the kids have been working out real hard all summer and running, so you look to your senior guys coming in who have played three years of competitive football."

The Falcons will play just one pre-season game against LCI in two weeks before opening up the season.
