During Thursday's COVID-19 update, Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced 54 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 6017.

With two additional deaths, 114 Albertans have now lost their lives to COVID-19.

Recoveries have risen to 3809.

The province's geospatial data shows 49 active cases in the "Okotoks-Priddis" area, with 115 recoveries and 1 death.

The same data shows 123 active cases in the "High River" area, with 410 recoveries and 5 deaths.

With the relaunch drawing closer and many Albertans eager to begin holding and attending larger gatherings, Dr. Hinshaw says we need to remain cautious.

"Whether a religious gathering or social gathering, I know we are all missing being together in ways that we once took for granted. Despite this, I am asking you to remain cautious. I am asking you to keep being creative about other ways of connecting and sharing meaningful moments."
